Kurozuka

A story of immortals. The description on anidb is very promising. Graphics are nice. Bloody. Nice fighting.

The story didn’t really unfold yet but this is definitely a series to keep your eyes on. If you like dark animes especially.

I will be sure to watch this! Nothing more to say, just watch!

Kemeko DX

OK, this series rocks. Its got humor, its mad, completely nonsense and has subtle sexist jokes.

Some high school boy, Sanpeita, is dreaming about his (very early) childhood love. Now ten years later she seems to pop up, although she doesn’t remember him. In a robo suit! Forcing him to be her bride. Since she is mostly in her robo suit, all the more funny.

Recommended!

To Aru Majutsu no Index

Last week Episode one of To Aru Majutsu no Index got fansubbed. Definitely deserves a separate post.

Of all the series that got fansubbed till now this one is definitely my favourite. A highschool kid who has a special power (to nullify all other powers) meets a little (also quite abusive) girl, a nun, which carries magic books. The nun doesn’t seem to have any special powers till now (besides “carrying” the books with her), so I am very curious how they will win the battles with the many magicians who want to steal the magic books.

hostile girl on the street

Other thing to not, the story takes place in “School city”. A whole city with millions of students from primary(?) school till university. Nice tad of comedy in it as well.

I blogged earlier about the new anime series starting this fall. Now they actually started! In the last few days many Episode 1’s got fansubbed.

Luckily (?) last weekend was really rainy so I was able to check most of them!

Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka
Not bad. Not very special either. Highschool boy which has a bad reputation (as Geno Killer, mean ass delinquent), which is actually some misunderstood boy. Lives together with his sister and kisses some cute rich girl in a misunderstanding. As a result she considers herself his fiance and she moves in with him. Looking at the end of episode 1 he is completely fine with this (I guess he is nuts).

Basically a high school comedy which has to potential to end up in the “harem” category. The only thing what makes me a little curious is the real story behind getting the name “Geno Killer”. Super cool martial arts? super power? something lame? Will need many rainy days to get tempted to find out.

Kannagi
Highschool kid cuts out a statue from a cut down sacred tree and just before he wants to show off his masterpiece the statue turns into a girl, who is actually a goddess!!! Ofcourse she has no idea of modern society and she has to move in with him because she has nowhere to go!!! He even has some special power so he has to help her clean up “infections”! What a storyline!

So the storyline is not orginal but hey it is not a bad comedy. So if you like the genre, I guess its good. For myself, no idea yet if I will continue. Better chance for this one then Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka.

HYAKKO
Also a highschool comedy. Starring a bunch of wacky girls. It doesnt seem to be a all-girl school, but in ep1 the only focus is on girls. Different kind of humour then the other two. Seems to be worth out checking ep2 so far. The characters seem to be well done, more unique.

Toradora!
I guess this is ALSO a highschool comedy, but I guess I saved the best one for last. Its about a highschool kid which has the face of a killer. Which works really well, because many are automatically scared of him. Presumably he looks like that because his mom married a gangster (who is now passed away). He carries quite te burden, taking care of his mom (which is some bar hostess/prostitute style) which seems somewhat mentally challenged. 😉 In episode 1 he meets some abusive girl who also cannot take care of herself and apparently he feels the responsiblity to fix her up (bad idea if you ask me :)).

I like this one. Probably will watch more.

Detriot Metal City

Ok, I really need to blog about this anime. I normally do not watch “Music” anime’s. The only thing I avoid more is “sports” anime. But this series really surprised me. It is totally nuts in a good way. 🙂

Its about a kid from the farmland, Negishi, who leaves to Tokyo to study(?) and play in a band. He actually likes some very gay lame music but somehow he ended up in a metal band. Which is totally the opposite.

Now I do not know the metal scene well, because its not my kind of music but I think even for metal its quite over the top. Which is really cool ofcourse. Negishi gets a sort of dual personality. Normally he is a wuss, but as soon as he gets into the DMC-feeling he turns into Krauser II and goes mad. 🙂

He runs from one situation into the other. Split between two worlds. Desperately grasping to his “gay” world which he dreams of so much, but completely failing at it, ending as a complete loser everytime VS the metal world, where he is super cool, even if its by accident sometimes. The comments and stupidity of his metal fans also deserve an applause, very well done.

There is more to the story, just watch. In any case I would like to recommend this series, I even started to like the intro. 🙂

World Destruction

Not a very special anime but I found it quite enjoyable nonetheless. It plays in a world where the oceans covered by sand and where humans and beastmen live together. Or better said beastmen rule over humans.

Two humans meet up, a violent chick and a soft hearted boy. Later joined by a chibi-kuma hero beastman. The chick has the destruct-code and well, wants to destroy the world. The other two do not have such a destructive intension but faith seems to keep them together. And maybe they can change her heart.

The beastman government labeled them as the World Destruction Committee and made a World Salvation Committee to hunt them down.

Anime season Fall 2008

The season basiclly already started but so important to have a look so we do not miss anything!

On my search I found this post, with this poster which as a complete overview.

The following series catch my attention:

Bounen no Xamdou: Already watched up to ep 9, and blogged about it previously.

Rosario + Vampire Capu2: I enjoyed watching season 1, so will definitely check it out.

– Casshern Sins: Cyborgs vs Robots. Remake of Shinzou Ningen Casshan, which doesn’t look very fancy. But hey, its a remake, so i’ll check it out.

– Yozakura Quartet: 3 female superheroes + 1 ordinary boy protecting the town. I am a bit sceptical but will check it out.

– Hyakko: Comedy, School life. At least the image looks like it is well animated.

– To Aru Majutsu no Index: Magic! This might be something.

– “Shikabane Hime: Aka”: Undead girl who seeks out to kill 108 corpses to be able to go to heaven.

“Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens”: Goddess appears and of course as to live in with a boy. To make things more exciting, other goddesses appear as well. Sounds like a classic story. Comedy ofcourse.

Chaos Head: With keywords like “delusional murder mystery story, strong elements of gore, psychology and science fiction”, I want to see it. 🙂

– “Vampire Knight: Guilty”: Season 2! Season 1 started really slow but the story does have a lot of potential.

-“Alive: Last evolutionary boy”: Couldn’t find much yet. But seems very cool.

I don’t know yet if I have time to check them all out, but based on new information later probably at least quite a few. Might also watch a few others ofcourse. Any suggestions welcome!

Bounen no Xamdou

Pretty cool intro. Takes place in some world where a south and northern government are fighting for control. Fantasy and such involved. Airships, people that transform into a sort of colorful battle monster. Humanforms which are a bit similar that are used for military purposes.

The main story is about Akiyuki, a highschool kid who gets special powers after encountering a “Xam’d”, because of that he is forced to leave the island he grew up and his adventures seem to start.

How everything is connected is still a bit vague till now but I like it. I never finished eureka 7 but it seems to have a lot of things familiar in story and atmosphere. But Bounen no Xamdou has a much pace and you got the humanforms ofcourse. Recommended.

Claymore (26, final episode?)

Claymore episode 26 just came out. The final episode as far as publicly known. I hope there will be another season, although it will be hard to equal, let alone surpass what I have seen till now (overall high quality, good story, good animations, etc). Claymore is the best anime of 2007 by far.

Its one of those series that can keep you on the tip of your chair and which you want to watch in one go. 🙂

I watched the Claymore releases by Eclipse fansubs and I’m absolutely happy with their quality and as a bonus they were really fast as well! Thanks for your work whoever you are!

Claymore information links: Anime-Planet.com, Anidb.net

ps. Not a frustrating end and definitely leaving options open for a second season!
